Message from the Division Director

In the Education of Engineering, experiments and seminars play an essential role. Without performing experiments, theories can be learned, but physical phenomenon cannot be perfectly explained by theory. When developing a theory, factors that have little influence on physical phenomenon are oftentimes ignored. When an experiment is performed, the measured values are not always the same as those of theoretically calculated. What does this mean? Either that the theory was insufficient, or possibly that there were errors within the experiment? In fact, the answer can be found by the most fundamental thing that any engineer can do; starting off by thinking deeply. After all, it is often said that failed experiments lead to new discoveries and inventions.

The Department of Technical Support is such a group for technical experts that strive to precisely conduct seminars and experiments. Of course, experiments not only play an essential role in education, but in research as well. Therefore, the Department of Technical Support provides support for both education and research. In parallel with this, upon request we will go to your school and offer experiments and practical laboratory experiences for elementary school, middle school, and high school students. It has been a long time since the decline of technical expertise in Japan, in part because children have little interest in science and technology. To rekindle the interest of these children, we here at the Department of Technical Support believe that the joy of science can be found within experiments. We hope that by joining our group, students and engineers of all backgrounds can rediscover the joy of science from their childhoods. If you have any wish for us to visit your school and give your students hands-on practical laboratory and experiments experience, please contact us.
