Introduction

The Center for Engineering Innovation was established in April 2005 as an organization incorporating the former Workshop Center to educate, research and collaborate with industry more flexibly and actively. The Center for Engineering Innovation consists of cross-departmental, organic divisions that provide practical innovation education for Faculty of Engineering undergraduates and graduates, advanced collaborative research with industry mainly in micro-, nano- and bio-technology, manufacturing education and research support, and company-sponsored lectures. The Center’s operations cover externally funded engineering research, industry-university collaboration, innovation engineering and MOT education, and support for student-driven manufacturing activities. Its component organizations are the following five divisions:

  • Technical Support Division
  • Workshop Center Division
  • Leading Edge Project Division I
  • Leading Edge Project Division II
  • Innovation Engineering and MOT Education Division

The Center is staffed with Faculty of Engineering teachers including former Workshop Center directors and chief teachers.
